Rod Simpson’s Time Out produced a stunning run to upset the President’s Cup Prep field from Nesnas and Shadiyda, with the highly-regarded Lahib. It gave jockey William Buick a double, as he won by a short head and denied Ffrench from claiming a treble on the night. Nirwan was fourth and Lahib under the Bahrain-based Frenchman Gerald Avranche came fifth, and two-and-a-half lengths covered the first seven horses to cross the finishing line in the conditions race over 11 furlongs.

Abu Dhabi: Three-year-old filly Raqiyah won the opening race of the 2009 His Highness President of the UAE Series for Purebred Arabian horses held on Sunday in Chantilly, France. Raqiyah, owned by Shaikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani from Qatar, won the Group 1 race for three-year-olds over a distance of 1,600 metres.
